The Real Good Guys
The season finale picks up exactly from where Episode 7, "We’re Gonna Be in So Much Trouble," left off. Jod ignites his blue lightsaber as he meets the parents. Fara, believing that Jod is the one who saved the kids, thanks him. Jod, ever the manipulator, charms the parents and paints a story about how the kids caused trouble by stealing the Onxy Cinder which could have led to the discovery of At Attin.
Jod, fearing the kids will say something, orders the Security Droids to confine the kids to their homes and watch them at all times. The pirate also tells them to load the Old Republic credits onto the Onyx Cinder. Wendle tries to question whether this is necessary, but Jod silences him. Fern also tries to argue, but Jod interrupts her and insists that she and Fara come with him to meet the Supervisor. When all the orders are issued, the Security Droids escort the other families away.
At home, Wendle tries to convince Wim to take the Assessment again so he can join the Great Work, but Wim refuses to do this. This leads to an argument, and in frustration, Wim almost reveals the truth about Jod but stops himself in front of the droid. But he does warn Wendle about the pirate ship that is outside the Barrier, but Wendle dismisses him by saying that the Supervisor is going to protect them. That night, Wim sneaks to his room and tries to contact Neel on his walkie-talkie so they can go and save Fern. But Wim is caught by the Security Droid before they can make a plan. Wim, however, is successfully able to deceive the droid.
At the Supervisor’s Tower, Jod meets the Supervisor, who is on the top floor of the tower. The Supervisor is revealed to be a massive, ancient droid that oversees At Attin. Jod smoothly delivers his lies just like he told the parents, but when he claims to be a Jedi, the Supervisor grows suspicious. It reveals that the Republic’s last message during Order 66 declared Jedi as traitors. Using this moment, Fern shouts that he is a pirate.
The Security Droids quickly turn on Jod, but he is able to destroy them and stabs the Supervisor’s central eye, which shuts all of At Attin down, including the Security Droids. Jod finds the Barrier override lever and forces Fara to cooperate with him as he threatens Fern with his lightsaber. Reluctantly, Fara agrees to lower the Barrier enough for Jod to call the Frigate on At Attin so that they can begin the pirate invasion.
As the pirates land on At Attin, they wreak havoc across the city. They unload on smaller ships and capture the citizens of At Attin, including KB’s moms. Neel and KB arrive at Wim’s home on hoverbikes and rescue him. The kids plan to take the Onyx Cinder past the Barrier so they can call Kh’ymm for help. Wendle follows the kids on a hoverbike as he is determined to protect his son.
The group races through the woods as they are pursued by pirates on speeders. They leap over the same cliff where they first found the Onyx Cinder, but the pirates remain close behind them. As they reach the ship, they find that it is locked in place by active docking clamps. Neel stays behind so that he can provide cover. On the other hand, Wendle and Wim head back to the Supervisor’s Tower to restore power so that the docking clamps can be deactivated. Wendle reassures Wim that he can do it by saying, “You’re talking to a level-seven Systems Coordinator, son.”
At the tower, Fern urges Fara to take action. Fara creates a distraction which allows Fern to grab a rifle from a Security Droid who is standing in his place lifeless. Jod, however, catches what they are trying to do and fires at them, announcing his rule over At Attin through the intercom.
Wim enters the tower where the Supervisor is and distracts Jod while Wendle sneaks into the control room and restores power. With the power restored, KB launches the ship and passes through the Barrier with the help of a partially repaired SM-33. KB is successful in contacting Kh’ymm, who promises that help is on the way. However, pirate ships ambush KB, and the Onyx Cinder gets shot, crashing into the schoolyard in a plume of smoke. From the tower, Fern watches in horror as she believes KB is dead.
In the tower, Jod corners Wim while holding Wendle at the lightsaber point, forcing Wim to step away from the Barrier override lever. Jod reveals his dark past: as a child, he was saved by a Jedi from poverty, but she was killed in front of him during Order 66.
Jod begins to monologue about his plans to rule At Attin and gets distracted, this gives Wendle an opportunity to punch him mid-sentence. A fight breaks out, with Wendle and Jod wrestling for control of the lever while Wim and Fern fight Jod for his lightsaber. Fern pleads with her mother to help them.
Fara finally takes a leap of faith in her daughter and pulls the override lever herself. The Barrier collapses entirely and reveals the galaxy beyond. Moments later, New Republic X-Wings enter into Attin’s skies, destroying the pirate fleet, and Jod watches as his plans fail.
Fern and Wim rush to the Onyx Cinder to find that KB is alive, along with SM-33 and Snowball. Relieved, Fern hugs her best friend.
As the New Republic secures At Attin, Wim looks up at the stars for the first time, smiling.
