Kenobi was born on the planet Stewjon and was later taken to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant at a young age, where he began his training in the ways of the Force. After his initial training, Obi-Wan became the Padawan Learner of Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn. The Jedi Master saw great potential in the young Jedi even though the two often clashed over their differing philosophies.

During the events of The Phantom Menace, Obi-Wan accompanied his master, Qui-Gon Jinn, to Naboo, where the two became entangled in an invasion that the Trade Federation and the Sith Lord Darth Sidious orchestrated. Later on, when they went to Tatooine after Queen Amidala’s Starship malfunctioned, there they encountered a young Anakin Skywalker which changed the galaxy forever. Qui-Gon believed that Anakin was the Chosen One and was destined to bring balance to the Force.

However, the mission ended in tragedy when Darth Maul killed Qui-Gon during the Battle of Naboo. Seeing his master die, Obi-Wan defeats Maul by cutting him in half while using his master’s lightsaber. This victory was marked as the first-ever known defeat of a Sith in over a millennium. Before dying, Qui-Gon made Obi-Wan promise that he would train Anakin in the way of the Jedi and honouring that wish, Obi-Wan vowed to train Anakin, despite many concerns from the Jedi Council.

The Rise of a Jedi Knight

Obi-Wan was promoted to the rank of Jedi Knight following the death of his Jedi Master Qui-Gon. During the training, the bond between Obi-Wan and Anakin grew stronger, even though they often clashed due to Anakin’s impulsive nature.

In Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, Obi-Wan was put in charge of investigating the assassination attempts on Senator Padmé Amidala. His investigation led him to the discovery of the clone army on Kamino, and this was the beginning of the Clone Wars. Later on, the Jedi uncovered the growing influence of Count Dooku, a former Jedi who had fallen to the dark side and became the leader of the Separatist movement known as the Confederacy of Independent Systems (CIS).

During the Battle of Geonosis, Obi-Wan fought alongside Anakin and other Jedi in a desperate battle against Separatist forces. A lightsaber duel with Count Dooku ended in defeat, though survival allowed Obi-Wan to continue serving as a General in the Clone Wars.

Obi-Wan Kenobi became a key figure in the Republic's fight against the Separatists throughout the Clone Wars. The Jedi Master was known for his strategic brilliance, compassion, and diplomacy. He led countless missions alongside Anakin and his Clone Troopers.

During the war, the rivalry with Darth Maul resurfaced. Maul, who was now resurrected, was filled with vengeance, and he sought to destroy Obi-Wan. On Mandalore, Maul lured Obi-Wan into a trap by killing Duchess Satine Kryze, who was the ruler of Mandalore and someone Obi-Wan deeply cared for. Losing Satine was marked as one of the most personal tragedies in Obi-Wan’s life.

Obi-Wan was also known for his legendary lightsaber combat skills. He was proficient in Form III, which is also known as Soresu, making him a master of defensive combat. The blue blade of his lightsaber became a symbol of hope for the Republic forces.

The Fall of the Jedi Order

As the Clone Wars came to an end in Revenge of the Sith, the galaxy was spiralling into chaos. Obi-Wan was sent to Utapau to confront General Grievous, who was the fearsome cyborg leader of the Separatist army. In a duel, Obi-Wan defeated Grievous by striking him down with a blaster after an intense battle.

While all this was going on, Palpatine revealed himself as Darth Sidious and executed Order 66, a command that turned the Clone Troopers against the Jedi. After this command, the Jedi Order fell, and Obi-Wan was one of the few survivors of the purge.

Seeing the Jedi Order fall was not as painful for Kenobi. But when he discovered that Anakin had fallen to the dark side and became Darth Vader, Kenobi was heartbroken as he considered Anakin his brother. The former apprentice of Kenobi betrayed the Jedi and helped Sidious establish the Galactic Empire. Obi-Wan confronted his Padawan learner on the volcanic planet of Mustafar. This confrontation led to a duel. This fight is one of the most intense lightsaber duels in Star Wars history. In the end, Obi-Wan defeated Anakin, leaving him severely wounded on the lava bay and consumed by the dark side.

A Life in Exile

Following the rise of the Empire, Obi-Wan went into exile on Tatooine. Tasked with watching over Anakin’s son, Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan lived a solitary life under the alias "Ben Kenobi." The blue-bladed lightsaber was kept close, though Obi-Wan avoided drawing attention to himself.

In A New Hope, Obi-Wan emerged from hiding to assist Princess Leia Organa after she sent a distress call via R2-D2. The meeting with a young Luke set the stage for the rebellion against the Empire. Obi-Wan guided Luke in the ways of the Force and passed down Anakin's old lightsaber to him.

Aboard the Death Star, Obi-Wan faced Darth Vader once again. This time, Obi-Wan sacrifices himself, allowing Luke and the others to escape. The act of selflessness transformed Obi-Wan into a Force spirit, enabling guidance to Luke from beyond the physical realm.

Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Legacy

As a Force spirit, Obi-Wan continued to mentor Luke, offering wisdom and guidance in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The teachings played a critical role in Luke’s growth as a Jedi and his eventual redemption of Darth Vader.

The legacy of Obi-Wan Kenobi has endured across generations. As a Jedi who embodied selflessness, wisdom, and resilience, Obi-Wan influenced the fate of the galaxy. The blue lightsaber became a symbol of his unyielding commitment to justice.
